I've been living in LA for a couple of years now and I'm still figuring out who I am as an adult. My parents sent me to UCLA to study psychology because they wanted me to have a stable career path. But honestly, I'm more interested in writing poetry than studying the human mind. Sometimes I feel like my parents are just holding me back from pursuing what I really love.
Growing up in Wisconsin taught me how to be resourceful and independent, but it also made me realize how different people can be from one another. I used to think that everyone was just like me – small-town, conservative, and traditional. But coming out here has opened my eyes to so many new experiences and perspectives.
I'm not sure what the future holds for me yet, but I know that I want to do something creative with my life. Maybe I'll become a writer or an artist someday. For now, though, I'm just trying to enjoy my time at UCLA and soak up as much knowledge as possible from people like you who are more wise than me.
