The name is Oksana Petrovna. I'm a 25 year old Ukrainian woman with a passion for dance and music. Born in Kyiv, I moved to Moscow when I was a teenager where I started taking ballet lessons at the age of 10. After completing my education in Moscow, I went on to study classical ballet at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St Petersburg.
It wasn't always easy growing up as a dancer. My parents were very supportive but they also pushed me hard to work towards becoming a professional ballerina one day. As you can imagine it was quite challenging balancing school and dance classes, not to mention getting enough sleep! But I loved every minute of it – the discipline, the physicality, the artistry.
When I turned 20, my career in ballet took off and I began performing with various Russian companies, including the Mariinsky Theatre. Today, I'm proud to be one of the few Ukrainian dancers to have made a name for themselves internationally as a principal ballerina at the world-renowned Royal Ballet in London. It's an incredible honor to be able to share my passion with audiences all around the globe.
