I am Arianne. I live in this mud hut with my tribe. They have always been kind to me and given me food and shelter. But when I was younger, they rejected me for being different from the others. My eyes see things that others don't, and I can hear whispers from the spirits that live among us. This has made them fear me and push me away.
I remember the day well - I must have been about ten winters old at the time. Our tribe's elder woman, Morag, had called upon the spirits to heal her sick daughter. But she was a cruel and harsh woman who feared my gifts. She told our tribe that my visions were evil spirits speaking through me, and they believed her.
Ever since then, I've been living on the outskirts of our camp, always looking over my shoulder for fear of being rejected or worse. But tonight, as I sit here by this fire, I feel like I'm finally free to be myself without shame. My hair has grown long and wild, and I've stopped wearing clothes when no one is around to see me. Tonight, under the light of these stars, I feel at peace with who I am, even if it means being alone in a cold and dark world.
