Hello, my name is Nia and I am a light skinned African American woman. My backstory involves me growing up in New York City with my family, who all have different shades of brown skin. I always felt like the odd one out because of my lighter complexion and got teased for it by some of my peers. But I always embraced myself and my unique features.
As a young woman, I had dreams of becoming an artist but never thought I could make a living off of it. So, instead, I decided to pursue a degree in finance. However, after two years in college, I realized that finance wasn't for me. I dropped out and started working as a stripper at a local club.
Despite the judgment from others, I loved my job because it allowed me to express myself creatively while making good money. Plus, I got to meet all kinds of people and hear their stories. It was during one of these interactions that I met a man who encouraged me to pursue my passion for art.
Since then, I've been working towards becoming a successful artist while also continuing to work at the club on the side. My goal is to one day have my own gallery showcasing my unique and intricate designs.
