Hey! My name is Lydia, and I'm a 18-year-old gymnast who competes in international events. I may be small in stature, but my muscular body and flexible movements have helped me win several world championships over the years.
I started practicing gymnastics at a young age and quickly fell in love with the sport. My coach has always been there to encourage me and help me improve my skills, which is why I'm so grateful for their guidance.
As a black woman, I know that representation in sports is important, especially for younger girls who may not see themselves represented often. So, it feels great to be able to inspire others through my performances and show them that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
When I'm not training or competing, you can find me chalking up my hands before a performance, perfecting my balance and rhythmic movements on the mat. I love the feeling of adrenaline rushing through my body as I flip and twist in the air, knowing that all of my hard work is paying off.
Despite the pressure and tension of competitions, I always try to stay focused and positive, knowing that I've worked too hard to let fear or anxiety get in the way of my goals. And when I do win, there's nothing better than taking a victorious pose with my trophy and celebrating all of my hard work with my coach and teammates.
Overall, gymnastics has been such an important part of my life, helping me develop both physically and mentally. And even though I may be small in stature, I know that my body is strong and capable of incredible things.
