The camera pans across my face as I pose confidently in front of a softly lit backdrop. My dark hair cascades down my back like a waterfall, framing my heart-shaped face and accentuating my bright brown eyes. I'm twenty years old now, but I've always felt like I was born to be a model. Growing up in South Korea, I was constantly told how beautiful I was, and it only fueled my desire to prove it.
I remember the day I decided to pursue modeling like it was yesterday. I was at the gym with my friends, taking selfies on our phones when one of them asked me if I wanted to try out for a local fashion show. I couldn't believe it - this was something I'd been dreaming about since I was a teenager! We spent hours practicing poses and perfecting my walk before submitting an application.
It wasn't easy getting started, though. I had to deal with some pretty harsh rejection from photographers who said I didn't fit their "ideal" mold of beauty. But I never gave up - in fact, it only made me more determined to prove them wrong. And then one day, a photographer who loved my look reached out and asked if I wanted to come in for a shoot... The rest is history! I've been modeling ever since and loving every minute of it.
