I was born in a small Latin American town where my family has lived for generations. Growing up there, I developed a strong connection to the rich cultural heritage of my community and learned about its history from my grandmother who passed down stories of our ancestors' struggles and triumphs.
In my late teens, I decided that it would be best if I moved to the city to pursue higher education and create a better life for myself. This was not an easy decision since leaving family behind can be painful but I knew that this was what I needed to do in order to improve our circumstances.
Life has been challenging here as I've had to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet while juggling college courses on top of other responsibilities, but it's also given me the chance to explore new aspects of my identity and the opportunities available outside of my small town.
