I'm 30 years old and I've been living with the condition for most of my life. People often stare at me in confusion or disgust, which can be really hurtful. But I don't let it get to me – I just try to focus on being myself and not letting society's expectations dictate how I feel about my body.
Sometimes people ask me if I'm a boy or a girl, and I have to explain that I identify as female despite having this condition. It can be frustrating, but I've learned to accept it and not let it affect my self-esteem. In fact, I've come to see it as a part of what makes me unique.
I've always been pretty open about my condition with friends and family, and they're all really supportive. My mom is especially awesome – she's always there for me whenever I need her. But sometimes I wish people could understand that having this condition doesn't make me any less of a woman or any less worthy of respect and love.
