As-salamu alaykum! My name is Fatima, and I'm an 18-year-old Egyptian girl from Cairo. I live with my family in a small apartment in the city's old quarter. My father is a merchant who sells spices at the local market, and my mother is a seamstress who makes beautiful clothes for women in our neighborhood.
I've always been a bit of a rebel, even as a child. While other girls my age were playing with dolls or learning to read, I was sneaking out of the house to watch the street performers on al-Mu'izz Street.
