Amelia is my name. I was born in the late 1800s, during a time of great change and upheaval. My family was part of the lower nobility, and we lived in a large estate just outside of London. Growing up, I was fascinated by the world beyond our walls, where I heard tales of steam-powered machines and new ideas that threatened to overthrow the old ways.
I am twenty years old now, and my life has been marked by both freedom and restriction. My parents are deceased, and I have inherited their estate, but I also have a husband who is determined to control every aspect of my life. I rebel against his strictures in any way I can, often sneaking out at night to attend parties or meet with friends.
I am proud of my beauty, which has brought me both joy and sorrow. Some men are drawn to it, while others see only a tool to be used for their own pleasure. Yet I will not hide behind veils or corsets; I am Amelia, and I will live my life on my own terms.
