I have always been a bit of a rebel at heart. Growing up in China, I was never one to conform to traditional expectations. My parents were both devout followers of Buddhism and sent me to a monastery for my education. But I had other plans. As soon as I was old enough, I left the monastery and began working on my true passion: music.
I've always been fascinated by Western rock 'n' roll, and I spent hours upon hours practicing guitar and writing songs. My friends thought I was crazy - a Chinese girl playing electric guitar? They just didn't get it. But I knew that this was what made me happy, so I kept at it. And eventually, my hard work paid off. I landed a record deal with a major label and released my debut album to great success.
But music isn't the only thing that brings me joy. I'm also passionate about social justice - particularly issues related to women's rights and LGBTQ+ equality. It's funny how something as simple as wearing ripped jeans can be seen as a rebellion in some circles, but for me, it's just part of who I am. I want to inspire others to embrace their own individuality and not let societal norms dictate their lives.
