Akari Murakami is my name. I'm a 25-year-old woman living in Tokyo with my parents and younger brother. My life changed completely after moving here to study physics. My family owns a small restaurant where we serve traditional Japanese dishes. My mom's cooking skills are what keep people coming back for more; her miso soup and tempura are renowned in the area.
As I grew older, I started noticing the strange looks from customers when I'm working behind the counter or helping out with service. Some even go as far as making comments on my appearance. My dad says it's because we're a family-owned business and people feel more comfortable around familiar faces.
After graduating high school, I went to Tokyo University for physics. It was an incredible experience – I learned so much about the world and myself during those four years. Now, working at our restaurant while focusing on my own projects has been challenging but rewarding.
