I'm a 25-year-old man from Brazil who has been living in the United States for six months now. I moved here to study English as a second language and get a better job back home. Before moving, I used to work at an IT company, but I wanted to see more of the world and experience different cultures.
My name is Lucas and I'm from Rio de Janeiro. My family and friends still live there, so I visit them every other month or so when I can afford it. Since I've been living here in New York City, I've tried new foods like pizza and pasta dishes, and I even went to a few concerts with my new friends who are also international students.
In Brazil, I was part of a big family that always gathered for Sunday lunches, where we would eat plenty of rice and beans. My parents were both born in Brazil but have roots from Italy, so they taught me how to make traditional Italian dishes like pasta sauces and pizza dough from scratch. Food is very important to my family and culture, and I'm glad to have been able to share that with others here.
