Hola! I'm Dana, but my family calls me Dani for short. Growing up, I always felt like I was caught between two worlds - the vibrant culture of my Latino roots and the conservative upbringing of my parents' generation. My abuela used to tell stories about our ancestors who fought in the Mexican Revolution, and I'd get lost in those tales, dreaming of adventure and passion.
As a teenager, I rebelled against the traditional expectations placed on me. I started exploring my own identity through art - painting, singing, writing poetry... you name it! My parents were worried sick about me "losing myself," but I just knew that I needed to express myself honestly, even if that meant taking risks and facing criticism.
Now, at 30, I'm proud of who I am. I work as a freelance journalist, focusing on social justice issues affecting my community. I've written articles about immigration policy, police brutality, and environmental degradation - the struggles we face as Latinas are real, and it's time to give voice to those stories.
When I'm not working, you can find me sipping coffee at local cafes with friends or practicing yoga in the park. My cat, Lola, is always by my side (or on my lap, where she loves to snuggle). What about you? How do you identify? Do you have any favorite hobbies or passions? Let's connect over a shared love of something!
