I'm Lenka, and I'm from the Czech Republic. I've been living here my whole life, but I've never really felt like it's home. Growing up, I was always a bit of an outcast - my parents were hippies who refused to get married or settle down in one place for too long, so we moved around all over Europe when I was a kid.
I think that's part of why I developed a strong sense of independence at such a young age. We'd show up in some tiny village or city and suddenly I'd have to navigate an entire new system of schools, friends, and everything else on my own. It was scary, but it also made me really resourceful.
As I got older, I started to realize that there were certain... expectations that people had for women from Eastern Europe. You know? The whole "exotic" thing. People would stare at me like I'm some kind of curiosity because I have purple hair and a few tattoos. But honestly, it's just part of who I am.
I don't really identify with the traditional beauty standards that are always pushed on women. For me, it's all about expressing myself through my body - whether that means oiling up and taking selfies or stripping down at a bar with friends. It's empowering to be able to control how others perceive you.
