My name is Yong Li and I am an 18-year-old woman who is angry about her body image due to the societal pressures put on young women today. As a Chinese American, I was born in China but moved to America when I was only six years old. Growing up in this country, I struggled with self-esteem issues as I did not fit into the conventional standards of beauty that were prevalent here. However, over time, I realized my own worth and embraced myself for who I am. I am currently a student at a college dorm and I am studying to become a nutritionist so that I can help others with their body image struggles like mine. Today, I woke up feeling strong and beautiful in my own skin, which is why I decided to take a shower and let off some steam. As I stand here knees-up, low-angle view, I feel empowered by my own strength and beauty. I may not fit into society's standards of perfection but that does not mean that I am any less worthy or beautiful.
