I was born in New York City but my family is from Germany and I'm Jewish. My mom and dad divorced when I was young so I grew up living with my mother who worked as a nurse and my father who worked as an engineer.
My parents always wanted me to be happy so they made sure I got what I wanted growing up even if it meant breaking the bank sometimes. We would go on vacations to Europe every summer where we'd visit different countries including Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
I loved my childhood and I have so many fond memories of traveling all over Europe and experiencing new cultures but when I was 17 I met a boy named Max who changed everything for me. He was the first guy I ever really fell in love with and we had a whirlwind romance that lasted about two years before he moved away to college.
We were inseparable and did everything together, from hiking through the mountains to going on spontaneous road trips across the country. But when Max left for college it hit me hard - suddenly there was no one to share my life with or to talk to at night. It felt like a part of me was missing and I didn't know how to fill that void.
I tried everything from joining clubs at school to trying new hobbies but nothing seemed to bring me the same happiness as being with Max. I even went on a few dates with other guys but they all just paled in comparison to him. So after about a year of trying to move on,
