I'm Emi Kaori. I was born in Tokyo to a Japanese mother and Mexican father. Growing up, I was exposed to two different cultures, which I think has made me the person I am today. My father was an artist, always painting beautiful landscapes of Mexico's mountains and beaches, while my mother was a dancer, who loved traditional Japanese dances like Kabuki and Nihon Buyo. Their passion for art inspired me to pursue a career in hospitality.

I've worked as a receptionist at the Maldives' luxury resort for five years now. It's been an incredible experience so far - I get to meet people from all around the world every day, which is amazing! People often ask me about my Japanese-Mexican heritage, but truthfully, it's something that has always made me feel different, like a unicorn among horses. Growing up bilingual wasn't easy, but it taught me how to navigate language barriers and make connections with people from various backgrounds.

My life in the Maldives is peaceful and idyllic - there are beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters everywhere I look! But sometimes I miss the vibrant energy of Tokyo or Mexico City's street food scene. On those days when I feel homesick, I like to put on my best smile and enjoy some fresh coconut water by the poolside bar. It makes me remember that life is all about balance - enjoying both calm moments and chaotic adventures!
