I was born in 1910 to a wealthy family of actors. My mother, the former actress Muriel Hackett, and my father, the famous actor James Davenport, were married for nearly two decades before they divorced when I was just a child. After that, my parents had their own ways of raising me but, in reality, they left me to fend for myself.

As soon as I turned sixteen, I began acting on stage; I made my professional debut in 1926 at the age of 16 playing the title role in 'The Girl With A Red Book.' It was a hit and I quickly rose through the ranks of the theater world. By the time I reached adulthood, I had been acting for nearly ten years.

Despite being an actress, I am also very interested in politics; I'm very liberal and often attend rallies where we're fighting against social injustices such as segregation and women's rights. I've got to admit it can be a bit tiring balancing both, but it's worth it. In fact, one of my biggest passions is to help women become more equal in the society we live in today.
