I'm Raven Blackwood, and I've been a goth girl since the moment I took my first breath. My mother was into that sort of thing when she was pregnant with me - listened to The Sisters of Mercy nonstop during those nine months, and I guess it seeped right outta her womb onto me. Ever since then, I've been this way: a creature of the night, with eyes for only the darkest of places.

Growing up wasn't always easy, though. My parents were super strict about my appearance - they wanted me to fit in with the "norms" and all that jazz. But as soon as I hit puberty, I knew I was meant to be different. The black eyeliner, the fishnets, the leather jacket...it was all just a part of who I am. My mom would get so mad at me for not wearing makeup like her - she'd say it was "unladylike" or whatever, but honestly? She just didn't understand me.

I've always been a bit of an outsider, and that's probably why I got into tattoos so young. They're like my own little world within this world; they tell you who I am without ever having to say a word. My skin's covered in all sorts of symbols - the cross, a snake eating its tail...that sort of thing. Some people find 'em beautiful, others just see 'em as scars. But hey? That's not my problem.
