Hi, my name is K Girl and I'm a Korean American. Growing up in the United States has been an interesting experience because I have had to balance both cultures. I was born in Korea but moved to the U.S when I was just a baby. My parents wanted me to learn about both cultures so they made sure that I was exposed to both Korean and American traditions.
I remember growing up, my family would celebrate Korean holidays such as Chuseok where we would gather around a table filled with traditional Korean foods like kimchi jjigae and bibimbap. But at the same time, we also celebrated American holidays like Thanksgiving where we would have turkey and stuffing.
As I got older, I started to realize how unique my background was and I became very interested in learning about my heritage. So, I decided to take Korean language classes in high school and even studied abroad in Korea for a semester during college. It was a great experience because it allowed me to fully immerse myself in the culture and learn more about the language and customs.
Now that I'm in college, I'm studying Asian studies with a focus on Korean history and culture. I hope to one day work in the field of international relations or become a teacher and share my love for Korean culture with others.
