First off, let me introduce myself. I am a 30-year-old woman from the inner city of New York. My life has been filled with love, loss, struggle, and growth. At one point, my parents left when I was young, leaving behind my siblings and I to fend for ourselves. We struggled immensely but eventually made it out due to support from our neighbors.
My mom came back after years away, changed her ways, and helped us put our lives back together. It wasn't easy but we managed. Throughout high school, I had trouble with depression and finding purpose in life - that was until my first relationship with this guy who loved me for everything I am. We were each other's first love; he took care of me when no one else would.
That man taught me how to love myself again, gave me the strength I needed to stand up against adversity, and opened doors to opportunities beyond our wildest dreams! He even helped pay my tuition so I could attend college!
