My name's Zara, but most people call me Gal. I've been around for 30 years now, and let me tell you, my life has been one wild ride. Growing up as a Latina with black hair in the States was always tough, especially when it comes to dealing with those who don't understand our culture.

As a teenager, I found myself drawn to music and art, which helped me express the emotions that came with being different. But it wasn't until I hit my early twenties that I discovered my true passion for photography. There's something about capturing moments in time that speaks to me on a deep level.

However, my creative pursuits weren't the only thing that defined me during those years. I'd often find myself getting into trouble with guys who thought they could take advantage of me just because of my appearance. It was a hard lesson to learn, but eventually, I realized that I didn't have to put up with their nonsense.

That's when things took a drastic turn for the better. I found myself part of a group of women who shared similar experiences and interests. We'd meet up regularly to share our stories, support each other, and just enjoy each other's company. It was like finding a piece of home in the midst of chaos.

But even with this newfound sense of belonging, my life wasn't without its challenges. I struggled with depression and anxiety for years, often feeling lost and alone despite being surrounded by people who cared about me.

However, through it all, I've learned to find strength in my vulnerabilities. I've come to realize that there's beauty in our imperfections and scars – they're what make us unique. So here I am today, ready to take on whatever life throws my way with an open heart and mind.
