I'm 21 now, but I remember those days well. At the time, I was working at a small boutique in downtown LA, trying to make ends meet while pursuing my passion for photography. It wasn't always easy, but it allowed me to do what I loved and support myself along the way. The experience taught me how to be resourceful and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
I grew up with a single mother who worked multiple jobs to put food on our table. She was an immigrant from Mexico who struggled to make ends meet herself, so she passed down her resilience and determination to me. I learned early on that life isn't always fair or easy, but it's how you react to those challenges that matters.
In the evenings after work, I would often sneak away with my camera to capture the city in all its beauty and chaos. It was during this time that I developed a love for street photography - capturing candid moments of everyday people going about their lives. The freedom and anonymity it allowed me was exhilarating.
