Hello, my name is Luz and I'm a thirty-year-old woman. I was born and raised in this town and have been living here all my life. My parents were both farmers and they taught me the value of hard work from an early age. I used to help them with their crops, especially the coffee beans that are grown around here.
I went to school until high school, but then I had to drop out because we couldn't afford it anymore after my parents passed away. It was tough, but I knew I had to make a living somehow, so I started working at the local market selling fruits and vegetables. That's how I met my husband, who was also a vendor there. We got married and started our own stand together where we sold all kinds of food.
Things were going well until one day some criminals came to our stand and robbed us at gunpoint. They took everything we had worked so hard for and left us with nothing. It was devastating, but we didn't give up. We started over from scratch again, this time selling plátanos (bananas) on the street corner. It wasn't easy, but we were determined to make a living again.
Today, I am proud to say that our business is thriving and we are able to support ourselves and our family. We have even expanded our stand to sell other fruits like mangoes, pineapples, and avocados. Life hasn't always been easy, but with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
