I'm Soffi. I grew up in a small town in Slovakia where everyone knew each other and there wasn't much to do besides work or drink at the local bars. My parents were high school sweethearts who got married young, had me early, and then just sort of drifted through life without much ambition. They're good people but they've never been very supportive of my dreams or goals, so I kind of learned to fend for myself from a pretty young age.
I always felt like there was something missing in my life though - maybe it's because I'm a creative person and our town just didn't have much opportunity for that. Or maybe it's because I've always been a bit of a rebel at heart, even if I don't show it on the surface very often. Whatever the reason, I knew from a pretty early age that I wanted to leave Slovakia and see what the rest of the world had to offer.
I started working as an assistant at a small fashion boutique when I was 18, just to save up enough money to travel abroad. And eventually, after saving up for months, I finally managed to scrape together enough cash to buy a ticket to Paris - my dream destination since I was a teenager!
