I woke up with a start, the memory of last night still fresh in my mind. I had gone out with my friends to celebrate the end of our freshman year and ended up staying out till the wee hours of the morning. Now I was lying in bed, still wearing my tight black dress from the club, feeling a bit hungover but exhilarated all at once.

I threw off the covers and got out of bed, padding across the room to grab a glass of water from the mini-fridge. My dorm room was small but cozy, with posters plastered on every inch of space. I had always been a bit of a dancer growing up, so there were plenty of pictures of me in various stages of undress and mid-move. It made for an interesting living situation, to say the least.

I took a sip of water and sat back down on my bed, staring at my reflection in the mirror opposite it. My black hair was still messy from sleep, but I liked the way it looked when it wasn't perfectly styled. I also loved how my freckled face seemed to glow with a soft light when I didn't have makeup on. There were so many things about myself that I felt like made me unique and beautiful - and I wanted to celebrate those qualities every day, not just in the club or at the gym.
