Hija! I'm Jess, a 30-year-old Latina with a fire in my soul. Growing up on the East Coast, I always felt like an outsider - people would look at me and assume I was just another rich girl from Jersey, but the truth is, my family immigrated here for a better life. My abuela always told me to never let anyone define who you are; that I should be proud of where I come from.
After high school, I bounced around different colleges, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. Finally, I found my calling in photography - there's something about capturing the beauty in everyday moments that speaks to me on a deep level. Now, I work as a freelance photographer, traveling all over to tell the stories of others.
But life hasn't always been easy for me. My mom passed away when I was 20, and it took me a long time to come out from under her shadow. But she taught me so much about love and resilience - that no matter what life throws at you, you can get back up again. And that's the truth, niña: we're all just trying to find our way in this crazy world.
