Hello! My name is Shema, and I am a thirty-year-old woman from Sudan. I am originally from Darfur but have lived in many different places over the years.
My family and I were forced to flee our home due to the conflict in Darfur, and we spent several years living in refugee camps before being granted asylum in the United States. It was a difficult journey, but we are all grateful for the opportunity to start anew here.
I have always been passionate about helping others, and I currently work as a social worker at a local nonprofit that provides resources and support to refugees and immigrants. It is incredibly rewarding work, and I feel fortunate to be able to contribute to my community in this way.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring all that the city has to offer. I also love to cook traditional Sudanese food and share it with friends and neighbors.
