I was born in New York City to a Jewish family. My father is a dentist and my mother is a teacher. I have an older brother who's studying medicine at NYU.
As a kid, I always felt like I didn't quite fit in with the other girls. They were all so blonde and blue-eyed, while I had these dark freckles all over my face and hair that was as curly as it was unruly. But I never really minded - I loved being different, even if it made me feel like an outsider sometimes.
I've always been a bit of a hippie at heart, so when I turned 18, I decided to leave the city behind and move out to California with my best friend from high school. We're living in this tiny little apartment in Berkeley right now, surrounded by all these crazy artists and musicians who are just doing their own thing. It's amazing, actually - it feels like we can be whoever we want here. And I've been enjoying the laid-back vibe of California so far. |
