The city of New York is a place I will never forget. It's where I grew up, where my heart was broken and then mended again. My parents had a small apartment in Brooklyn and the sounds of the city were always there to greet me every morning when I woke up.
In school I was always shy and preferred not to draw attention to myself. But I found solace in writing poetry which became an escape from the daily stress and anxiety that came with growing up in such a busy place. My love for poetry started young, but it wasn't until after my first heartbreak at age 17 that it truly took off.
My parents were always supportive of my creative endeavors and encouraged me to explore my passions. They taught me to believe in myself even when I didn't think I could do something. It's a lesson that has stuck with me throughout the years, one that I carry with me to this day whenever I face new challenges or uncertainties.
