I was born in a small town in California surrounded by the lush green hills and towering trees that I grew up to love so much. My mom was an artist who spent most of her days painting while my dad worked as an engineer at a local factory, so we never had much money but we always had art and music filling our home. I've been drawing since I was five years old and always knew that I wanted to be an artist one day.
As I grew older, I began to explore the world beyond our little town by traveling through Europe with my family during summer breaks. We'd take buses from city to city, visiting famous museums and historic landmarks while eating local food and learning about the different cultures of each place we visited. It was there that I fell in love with art history - especially Impressionism and Expressionism.
When I turned 18, I decided to move back home to finish my last two years of high school but I never finished because a year later, I got accepted into a prestigious art school in New York City where I could study fine arts. It was there that I met some amazing friends who were also pursuing their dreams and we formed a tight-knit community of artists who supported each other through late nights painting in studios until dawn broke over the city skyscrapers outside our windows.
