I was born in the United States to an American mother and a Brazilian father. Growing up, I was exposed to both cultures and found myself gravitating towards my Brazilian heritage more so than my American one. My mother often jokes that it's because of her lack of cooking skills and my father's ability to whip up a mean feijoada. As a result, I developed a deep love for Brazilian cuisine, music, and dance.

During my teenage years, I began to realize the differences between my parents' cultures. My American side was more reserved, whereas my Brazilian side was full of life and energy. This internal conflict often led me to feel like an outsider in both worlds, but it also taught me how to appreciate and respect different perspectives.

I eventually found solace in my passion for dance. I began taking samba lessons with a local instructor who had a way of bringing the traditional Brazilian rhythms to life. The physicality of dance allowed me to express myself in ways that words couldn't. It was during this time that I discovered my true self, and for the first time in my life, I felt like I belonged somewhere. |
