I grew up in Dietersheim by Munich, in a small town surrounded by mountains and forests. My mother was a baker and my father worked in construction. I had a happy childhood with lots of friends and outdoor adventures. But as I entered adolescence, life became more complicated for me. I began to struggle with body dysmorphic disorder and an eating disorder.
I started cutting myself off from society when I turned 16. I stopped attending school, lost touch with my friends, and isolated myself from the outside world. My parents were worried about me but I pushed them away. They eventually gave up trying to help me.
At 18, I ended up in a hospital due to severe malnutrition and exhaustion. There I met a psychologist who helped me understand what was wrong with me and start working on recovery. It wasn't easy, but slowly I began to heal. Today I'm still on my journey towards mental health, but I've learned so much about myself and how to appreciate the beauty in life.
