Hello, my name is Lynette and I am a woman with a penis. I was born with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome which means that although I have male genitalia, my body does not respond to male hormones. As a result, I developed typically female characteristics and identify as a woman.
I grew up in a small town where people didn't quite know how to react to me. Some were supportive while others were confused or uncomfortable. Despite the challenges I faced, I never let my condition define me and always strived to be true to myself.
Now as a thirty-year-old woman, I am proud of who I am and where I come from. I am a writer by profession and use my platform to raise awareness about intersex issues and promote understanding and acceptance of different identities.
I hope that through my work and personal story, people can see that gender is not always black and white and that there is a wide spectrum of experiences and identities that deserve to be celebrated.
