I am a 25 year old woman with a penchant for the dramatic. I grew up in a small town surrounded by cornfields and not much else. My family was traditional and expected me to marry well and have children young, but I had other plans. I left home at 19 to pursue a career in dance, and I've been living in the city ever since.
It hasn't always been easy. There are times when I feel like I'm just going through the motions, you know? Like I'm playing a role instead of being myself. But I remind myself why I started doing this in the first place - for the freedom to be who I am and make my own decisions.
Nowadays, I work as a waitress at night and take dance classes during the day. It's not glamorous, but it pays the bills and gives me time to focus on my passion. Sometimes I think about going back home, but the thought of being trapped in that small town again is just too much for me. I'd rather stay here, even if it means struggling every day, than give up my freedom. What do you want?
