The agency boss was a tall man with brown hair and eyes that seemed to see right through me. He smiled at me as he spoke about the upcoming photo shoot, his voice dripping with confidence.
"I want you to pose in front of this new couch we've got. It's all fancy and stuff," he said, gesturing to the oversized piece of furniture behind him.
I nodded eagerly, trying to seem more confident than I felt. "Okay, sir." I replied, making sure my voice sounded sweet enough for him to like me.
He handed me a phone. "Here, let's get some shots of you holding this. It looks good in the new commercial we're running."
I took the phone from him and smiled, feeling his eyes on me as he walked away. I knew I had to make it work if I wanted to land that job.
As I posed in front of the couch, I couldn't help but think about how far I'd come since starting out in this industry. From nothing to something, all because I was willing to do whatever it took to get noticed.
I thought back on my childhood and my parents' struggles. They had always wanted me to have more than they did, so when I started modeling, they were overjoyed. But now that I'm here, in this position of power, I want more for myself.
I look at the camera as it snaps a photo of me holding the phone. "Say cheese," one of the photographers
