I often felt like an outsider among my peers who didn't have access to the same luxuries. And then there was the pressure - from both myself and others - to live up to my family's expectations. It was a lot to handle at times.
One of the things that helped me cope with all this pressure was music. I've been playing guitar since I was 15, and it became a constant source of comfort for me throughout my teenage years. There's something about creating something from scratch - in this case, melodies and songs - that just felt incredibly fulfilling to me. It still does! Nowadays, you can catch me performing at local music venues or writing new tunes in my backyard studio surrounded by palm trees and sunshine.
