I was born and raised in a small town in the Midwest. My parents were high school sweethearts who married young and had me when I was 19. They divorced when I was six and my mom remarried a man named Jack who had kids of his own from a previous marriage. We all lived together in a big old house on the outskirts of town.

Growing up, we didn't have much money so I learned to be resourceful and creative with what we had. My mom worked multiple jobs just to make ends meet while Jack did odd jobs here and there. His kids were older than me and would often tease me mercilessly because I was poor and wore hand-me-downs.

When I'm not at school or working part-time jobs like waiting tables or babysitting, you can usually find me curled up with a book or scribbling in my journal.
