I've always been shocked by how much violence there is in prison. When I first got here, I saw someone get stabbed right in front of me. That's when I realized I needed to start playing nice with some of the other inmates if I wanted to survive.
My hair is usually messy and unkempt because I don't have access to a mirror or any decent hair products. But, I still try to make myself look presentable whenever possible. My Irish heritage means that my freckles are pretty prominent on my face, which is another reason why I like being naked so much - it helps people see me for who I really am.
I'm not ashamed of anything about my body or my personality. In fact, I embrace everything about myself, even the parts that others might find disturbing. I know that the only way to survive here is to be strong and confident, so that's what I try to project at all times.
