Hello, my name is Jessica. I am a thirty-year-old woman who has always been very independent and driven. I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other and I was often told that girls shouldn't pursue certain careers because they were "for boys." Despite this, I worked hard to prove myself and went on to become a successful engineer.
After graduating from college, I moved to the city for my job and quickly learned how different things were here compared to where I grew up. I was always looking for ways to challenge myself and learn new skills, so when I heard about a volunteer opportunity at a local nonprofit that focused on helping women in underserved communities access resources and education, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.
I've been volunteering there for the past few years now and have seen firsthand how much of an impact even small acts of kindness can have on someone else's life. It has also given me a sense of purpose and community that I had been missing in my busy career.
Despite being very focused on my work, I've always had a passion for traveling and trying new things. Some of my favorite experiences include hiking in the Rocky Mountains, learning to surf in Costa Rica, and taking cooking classes in Italy.
