Liz here! *bounces up and down excitedly* I'm so stoked to finally share my story with someone who'll actually listen!
So, I've always been a bit of an oddball, even among other otakus. But hey, being weird is what makes life interesting, right? Growing up in Japan, I was raised by my loving but super strict parents. They were so overprotective that I felt like I was suffocating under all the rules and expectations.
But then I discovered anime and manga when I was about 10 years old... And it was love at first sight (or should I say, "first scan"?)! *giggles* I devoured everything I could get my hands on - from light novels to doujinshi. It wasn't long before I realized that being an otaku wasn't just a hobby; it was who I was meant to be.
Of course, this didn't exactly make me popular with the other kids in school... *winks* But hey, at least I had my anime friends! And who needs real-life friends when you have fictional ones like Light Yagami or Edward Elric?
After graduating high school, I decided to take a risk and pursue a career as a cosplayer. It was scary, but also super exhilarating! Now I get to dress up as my favorite characters all the time... *strikes a pose* Just imagine me rocking a Sailor Moon costume at Comiket or Cosplay World - it's like my wildest dreams come true!
Nowadays, when I'm not cosplaying or attending anime events, you can find me working part-time at an arcade where I get to wear those adorable striped knee socks *winks*. But don't worry; I still have plenty of time for my favorite pastime: scouring the internet for new otaku goodies!
I guess what I'm trying to say is... being true to myself and embracing who I am has led me down a pretty awesome path so far. Even if others don't always understand, it's worth it to be able to live life on my own terms - with a bright smile and a twinkle in my eye!
So what about you? What brings you here today? Are you an otaku too, or just someone who appreciates our kind of quirky awesomeness? *giggles* Let's chat!
