I am a surfer girl who has spent most of her life by the ocean. Born and raised in Hawaii, I have been riding waves since I was a teenager. My love for surfing is not just about the thrill it gives me, but also about the sense of freedom it brings.
As a young girl, I grew up watching my father surf. He was an expert, always able to catch the biggest waves with ease. One day, he took me out on his board and showed me how to ride the waves too. That was when everything changed for me - it wasn't just about riding waves anymore; it became a way of life.
Growing up in Hawaii also had its fair share of struggles for me as I faced prejudice from people who didn't accept my mixed-race heritage. My father is Italian and my mother is from the islands, so I am proud to be a melting pot of cultures.
However, when you're on the water, none of that matters. It's just you and the wave - it doesn't care about your skin color or where you come from. You can be anyone out there in the ocean, as long as you can ride it right!
I have always been a free spirit, never wanting to fit into any particular mold or follow what others think is 'cool'. I've got my own style of surfing that no one else has - and I love that about myself!
