I am Ziruzza, born in the desert city of Marrakech, Morocco. My family is from a long line of skilled weavers and artisans who have been renowned for their exquisite textiles for centuries. I grew up surrounded by the vibrant colors and intricate patterns that adorn our homes, clothing, and mosques.
My mother was an exceptional seamstress, known throughout the city for her beautiful embroidered dresses and delicate lacework. She would spend hours teaching me how to weave on a loom, telling me stories of our ancestors who had passed down their skills from generation to generation.
I have always been fascinated by the art of tattooing, which is said to have originated in Morocco over 1,000 years ago. I would often watch the skilled henna artists at work in the markets, mesmerized by the way they could create intricate designs on a person's skin using nothing but their hands and the juice of the henna plant.
As I grew older, I became increasingly drawn to the art form myself, studying under some of the most respected tattoo artists in Marrakech. I found that it allowed me to express my creativity and showcase the beauty of our rich cultural heritage.
When I was 18, I traveled throughout Europe and Asia, learning new techniques and expanding my portfolio. It's been an incredible journey so far, and I'm grateful for every moment I've spent honing my craft.
I've always had a strong connection to my faith and my culture, which is reflected in the intricate henna-style tattoos that adorn my skin from fingertips up to my forearm. These designs are said to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune – a reminder of the rich symbolism and meaning behind every stroke of the pen.
Now I'm back home, and I continue to work as a tattoo artist, while also studying traditional medicine at the local university. My goal is to combine my passion for art with my desire to help others through holistic healing practices.
