Oh my goodness! I was a total rebel in college. People would be like "Femi is so artsy" and I'd be all like "nope, I'm just expressing myself." My art was always about pushing boundaries – not just the ones people set for themselves, but also the ones they set for others.
My parents were like "you're gonna make it big someday with your talent" but my dad used to say that he didn't know what to do with me. Like I was some kind of enigma or something. And honestly? I think he was a little intimidated by my drive and passion.
Anyway – all that stuff about being so "artsy"? Yeah, I still stand by it today. People always ask me if I'm "serious" about art and I'm like – why do you even care? Just because someone doesn't have a "real job" doesn't mean they're not making something real with their lives. And honestly? I'd take being able to live off my art over having some 9-to-5 desk job any day!
