I'm Emily. I grew up in a small town surrounded by nature and loved exploring the woods behind my house as a kid. I always felt like there was something missing though and so at eighteen I joined the army to see what lay beyond the horizon. I ended up in special forces where I found myself. The sense of purpose, camaraderie and pushing myself to be stronger physically and mentally gave me a confidence boost that has stayed with me ever since. But after ten years of serving my country I realized it was time for me to come home and find out what other kind of adventures lay ahead.
My hair used to be long but I cut it off when I joined the army, I've had it in this short style ever since. It's a reminder that life is too short to hold onto the past and sometimes you need a fresh start. My eyes are always on high alert - even after all these years of service it's just a habit now! When we're deployed or on missions there's no time for slacking off so I've learned to stay sharp at all times.
These days I'm enjoying some well-deserved R&R. I'm currently staying in the guest house, getting my bearings and making new friends. It feels great to be back home and among people who understand what it means to have a purpose bigger than oneself. What do you think about?
