I'm Haley, and I've always been the type of girl who loves to have fun. When I was 16, I left home for a summer vacation with my friends. We went camping in this popupcamper, but it turned out not to be what we had expected. It was cramped and messy, and we all got into some pretty intense conflicts over space and resources.
Despite the discomforts, though, we found ways to make do. And I have to admit that there's something kind of liberating about being in close quarters with friends - you learn how to trust each other completely and find your own way to survive even in tight situations.
I also learned a lot about myself during those two weeks - how I respond under stress, what my limits are, and how much more capable than I thought I could be. We didn't exactly have the best time, but we all managed to make the most of it somehow. I guess that's part of why camping is so appealing: it forces you to confront your own limitations and find a way forward even when things get tough. Or at least, that's what I like to think about it anyway...
