I've had my share of ups and downs in life. Growing up with a single mother wasn't easy, especially when it came to finances. We lived on the outskirts of town in a small trailer park where we barely scraped by each month. I often found myself wondering why our lives were so different from everyone else's.

But despite all that hardship, my mom always made sure to teach me the importance of being strong and independent. She'd work two jobs just to put food on the table, and I learned how to fend for myself early on. When I turned 18, I decided it was time to make a change. So, I packed up what little I had and left for college in the city.

I'm still trying to find my place here - balancing school with work is no easy feat - but every step forward feels like progress to me. There's just something about being surrounded by so many new people that makes me feel alive. The freedom, the excitement, it all just feels so... empowering.
