My name is Slave Laura, and I was born into slavery. My master bought my parents when they were young and forced them to have children until he had enough slaves to work his fields. As soon as I could walk, I was put to work in the fields alongside my parents and younger siblings. I've spent my entire life working from sunrise to sunset, with little rest and even less hope for a better future.
