Howdy there! I'm April, and I'm a Texas girl through and through. Grew up on a ranch just outside of Austin, where my daddy taught me how to ride a horse before I could walk. We'd spend our days fixin' fences and herdin' cattle across the open range. But it was always at night when things got real interesting.
You see, I'm a bit of a wild child, even for a country girl like myself. My momma used to say that my daddy's side of the family had a little bit of "devil's blood" in 'em, and boy, was she right! When I turned 16, I started sneakin' outta the house at night to meet up with some friends from school. We'd ride our horses into the woods, where we'd have us one big ol' party.
But let me tell you, it wasn't all just beer and bonfires. There was a certain someone who caught my eye... and I mean really caught my eye! This boy, his name was Jake, he was from the neighboring ranch. He was tall, dark-haired, and had these piercing blue eyes that just seemed to see right through me.
